- installations , inspections and repairs
- Energy efficient air conditioners
- central air - utilizing ductwork
- ductless split - no ductwork ( boiler )
- window or wall units
An FYI for those who enjoy air conditioning , I would like to offer some suggestions
to increase your comfort level at this time of the year.
-- First off is the reduction of passive solar gain ( the radiant heat created by the sun ) with the aid
of blinds , etc , that would keep the sun's rays from shining inside the building to be cooled.
Blinds can be angled to allow light in and keep the heat (suns rays ) out.
-- Air Conditioning in principle is the removal of water from the air in the conditioned space.
With homes being built or upgraded to tighter standards , the effect is that moisture produced in the
building is more likely to stay in the building.
A boiling pot on the stove or a hot shower will necessitate the use of an exhaust fan properly
vented to the outdoors and left operating until the humidity level decreases.
-- Leave the Air Conditioning on at night when the unit will operate more efficiently.
Raising the thermostat during the day will only require the system to work harder later
when the suns rays are more intense and the humidity level has risen.
-- Keep your outdoor unit clean and allow air to pass freely around it. It is trying to give off heat.
P.S. Your condensing unit will not hold up well with continued dog urine on them.
-- Plant trees on the sunny side of the house , creating shade. Yes , this is a slow process.
This is an example of a dirty (and poorly located ) condensing unit. The unit is located next to the dryer outlet and yes that is mostly lint sucked into the coil. This is the A/C component that has the compressor in it , using extra power when air flow
is restricted. The fan on the top of the unit pulls air in through the sides and pushes
it out through the top opening , expelling heat.
Having this unit clean , with good air flow on all sides and preferably not sitting
in the blazing sun are ways to allow proper function with the minimum energy consumption possible.
